VBS and Other Happenings

Throughout my journey over the last year, and since I've decided to come to Japan, a lot of the focus was on the move, on my transition to Japan. It felt like a climax point, of sorts. The truth is, moving to Japan is just another step in the journey God has written for my life. God is using this time just as He has every other moment of my life. Even on the other side of the world, the challenges of life remain. But God's faithfulness remains, too.

Yes, there are times of wondering how God will use me. Yes there are times of fear, times of pride, times of doubt, and times of hurt and a sense of loss. That's true no matter where my feet are planted. But why do we fear? Why do we doubt? Faithful God has been, faithful He is, and faithful He will be. When the devil throws discouragement our way, do we believe that God is still here?

Last Saturday, we spent a little time at a local school festival where I saw a lot of traditional Japanese dress, food, music, and some dancing. We were very thankful for a slightly cooler, overcast day to be outside!

I received a very sweet gift of my own yukata (the summer version of a kimono) from a dear sister in church. She had asked me if I had one, and when I told her no, she said that she would like to give me one of hers that she made years ago, since she and I are about the same size. This church family is so special!

Throughout the week, I enjoyed spending time with the VBS team, exploring. The evenings are beautiful. We tried some more food places, too!

Tuesday through Friday, we were blessed by VBS. Many children came, and there was much energy as we talked about the importance of prayer, and how to pray. I enjoyed singing with so many little voices, and seeing their smiles each day as they came. Thank you for all your prayers! We pray that God will provide the increase where seeds have been planted. Pray with me that more souls will come to know Jesus!
