When I think back to events at the beginning of this month, it's hard to believe that they were only a month ago! This month held many gifts for which I am very thankful.
I left off last month in the middle of Frank and Kathy's visit. What I didn't add then was that Matt and Dana, along with their daughter Paige, also joined us for their first visit to Japan at the tail end of October. I was blessed by the fellowship through exploring Japan, sharing food, and having meaningful conversations. Thankful for both of these couples and the encouragement they bring!

The first weekend of November we travelled out to Yamanashi for our annual fellowship weekend with both churches. This weekend is always such a special time to connect with our church family here! We enjoyed some hiking in the beautiful fall weather, lots of laughter as we shared in fun games, wonderful time of singing with a big group, inspiring Bible studies, and uplifting small group conversations! Praise God for a wonderful weekend!
Classes continue as usual. I'm thankful that Nami (my good friend and Japanese teacher) has brought two of her friends to my adult ladies English class! I sure do enjoy that class. This month we also went out for lunch together, and shared fun conversations over some Indian curry. My kids classes have been busy with practicing for the Christmas program at church in December. My prayer is that all my English students may come to understand the depth of God's love shown through the Christmas story!
I admit, in October, I was a little disappointed with how quickly the weather turned cold. November made up for it, warming up and being full of sunshine! I took advantage of the beautiful weather to enjoy the pretty leaves and sunsets, go on bike rides, and spend time at the river.
Thanksgiving week always hits a little different when I'm in another country. Because it's not a holiday in Japan, my Thursday was a normal day of work. I was glad to be able to meet my dear friend Kinrei at our favorite Thai restaurant for our Thanksgiving day dinner. On Saturday, we got together with many from church and a few neighbors at Itos' for our big Thanksgiving dinner. What a joy that was! It's a special time to share some traditional foods, and give thanks to God for His goodness!
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever!
