This morning, in my 1st and 2nd grade classroom, we wrote down the date, like we do every day. Today is May 16. That means there is only one month until I move to Japan.
It was a reality that hit just a little closer this morning. Sometimes I wonder what I'm doing. Earlier this morning, in two separate devotions, I read Proverbs 3:5-6. Last year, while I served at a camp, it was those verses that convicted me to start praying about Japan. I find it amazing how God can use a couple of verses that are so familiar to speak to me in such a new way. That is the power of His living word!
Now, as I look back on the year, and am reminded again of those verses, I am encouraged to acknowledge Him in all my ways. When I think back to how He has led, I am amazed and in awe! When I look at all the blessings He's given along the way, through scripture, through family and friends, through moments of stillness in the midst of the unknowns (I can't tell you how many pictures of the sunset I've taken in the last year), I am overwhelmed by His undeserved gifts to me.
When I think of the hard parts, like what I will be giving up, missing out on, and saying goodbye to, I must choose to acknowledge Him. As I take each step, I must choose to acknowledge Him in His leading. God is faithful. God is good. God will sustain me and provide for me. He has proven Himself over and over again. He is worthy to be trusted!
How our Creator wants to be known by us! Acknowledge Him. Know Him. Trust Him. Follow Him.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
